Into The Wild; After finishing whole book

In order to accomplish his goal “Get to Alaska and Live in Wilderness” Chris McCandless recklessly abandoned most of his possessions, family, and friends. Throughout his childhood Chris witnessed a lot of fights between his parents, verbally and sometimes even physically. By watching his parents argue all the time and working from morning till night; Chris became less inclined towards material things. Like for example cloth, electronics, cars and even money. After Chris graduated from College with good GPA and with around twenty-five thousand dollars in his bank account; he recklessly donated all of that money to charity and burned or left most of his possessions. “One hundred twenty-three dollars in legal tender was promptly reduced to ash and smoke”. By abandoning his family, friends, and a lot of valuable possessions; Chris McCandless proved himself to be one of the rebellious and reckless adolescent human beings.

Some people or even McCandless himself might argue that, what he was doing was not reckless and incompetent. His actions and plan to live in the wilderness of Alaska, was planned out. “I ‘m living like this by choice”. He did not just recklessly go on the trip to the wilderness. Chris prepared himself by traveling on foot and living on the streets. “Have been living on streets of San Diego for the past week”. He also bought some supplies that will help him to survive in the wilderness. These actions showed others that Chris was not reckless, but planned out his trip instead.

From my point of view, Chris McCandless was reckless and rebellious. His unintelligent move to burn his social security card, license or any other type of document that could prove his existence; was unspeakably dumb. He had a lot of options instead of burning, throwing them away or giving away his stuff. For example, after getting rid of his Datsun he buried some of his stuff. “He buried his Winchester deer-hunting rifle and a few other possessions that he might one day want to recover”. Why not do the same with his identification, money or some of his other valuable stuff? He could of also left it somewhere far in safety deposit box and burry the key. Instead of doing that, Chris made things worth for himself out of his recklessness.

Leaving his friends Kris Maxie Gillmer and Eric Hathaway without telling them some sort of goodbye was one of the other reckless actions he did. “Kris Maxie Gillmer, a female teammate who was perhaps McCandless closest friend at Woodson”. Before Chris went on the trip he grew distant from his friends. He started alienating others by spending more time to himself. Eric Hathaway, a friend with whom Chris used to hang out with and even went one day downtown with him to feed homeless; was turned down by Chris. “I think when everybody started going Greek, he kind of pulled back from his old friends and got more heavily into himself”. If Chris was not reckless as he was and kept better relationship with his friends, they could have saved his life by talking him out of his crazy idea.

After Chris recklessly disappeared from his family view with out some sort of farewell or good bye; Walt and Billie became concerned and even scared about his well being. “Walt and Billie, terribly concerned over Chris’s vanishing act, had by that time already contacted the Annandale police, who had been of no help”. Walt had a strong character, but once his son disappeared he became worried and scared. “When Walt talks, people listen. His son’s disappearance scared and chastened him”.

When he recklessly disposed his valuable possessions, and left his friends in the unknown, it was frustrating to hear about it. Once he abandoned his family and left with out telling his sister, who was the only person that could understand him; he undeniably crossed the line and brought a lot of grief upon his sister. “Anyway, I like to talk to you about this because you are the only person in the world who could possibly understand what I’m saying”. His rebellious reckless actions brought a lot of pain and sorrow, especially to his family. These acts prove that Chris McCandless was rebellious adolescent who recklessly abandoned his possessions, friends and family.

Why We Crave Horror Movies

According to Stephen King "...we're all mentally ill" and I some what agree with him, because most of us probably around 99% if not whole one hundred want to see something disturbing or maybe even death. But not everyone are willing to do something that crazy only few that lost their sanity and completely can't control themselves or resist doing something so horrible like killing are the weakest links. In this writing Stephen King provides some examples of how people crave for horror movies for different reasons like to prove themselves or to others that they are not afraid. Others will actually get fun or excitement out of seeing others get manaced or killed.

Children Need to Play, Not Compete

The story was kind of interesting, but in my opinion with out competition children will not become great at the sport or even progress in it. Playing for children is extremely important, because of their evolement in body and mind. By playing kids are able to communicate to others, be more sociable, relax and waste their endless energy, but competition is also extremely imortant because with out it kids won't evolve or become better. Competition allows children feel the sport and it also creates the feeling of becoming better then your opponent. I think that with out it chidlren and adults will become dull and boring. The sports will lose their meaning and the evolution will be extremely deformed. The reason I meantioned evolution, because people will see no need for competing into getting better technology or any other stuff.

Into The Wild

Even though Christopher Johnson McCandless was well educated, entrepreneur and seemed like a great guy, his stubborn actions left his family with full of grief and pain. After Christopher graduated from Emory University with honors, he decided to start his life from a scratch in the wild. He got rid of most of his possessions which included money, clothing, and even his car. Through out his trip he slept on the streets most of the time. Chris donated twenty-four thousand dollars to charity, and then burned rest of his money. Those kinds of senseless actions left him with nothing to support his long journey to the Alaskan wild and harsh environment. Chris McCandless decision to disappear from his families’ sight and unpredictable death left his whole family in a lot of agony and sorrow.

I enjoyed movie way better then the book. The reason I liked movied better then the book, because the structure of the book is all over the place. Movie jumped places from time to time, but at least it connected to the point of the movie. The book talks about some random stuff and some people are just randomly added in there, I guess because of their similarities. Alex McCandless seemed like x-treme dude, who would try everything and finish whatever he was set to do, but him leaving people who cared about him and especially family clueless; was messed up and cruel.

Boy's Here, Girl's There: Sure, If Equality's the Goal

I some what agree and disagree with Stabiner's point of view. Some students would progress better at only one gender school and some will become less sociable. By going to one gender school students will be able to focus better, because of the following reasons like less drama, less to worry about making impression, less fights over girls, etc... Students can focus much more academically, but some won't be able to, because for some female or male partnership will be much better influence towards study. If a student not into studying he or she can be influenced by the person they are interested or like just to impress them or something like that. From my experience, I have only attended public schools that accepted guys and girls equally.

Stick and Stones and Sports Team Names

Estrada somewhat exagerates about the names or the names of the teams. I suppose in his view some of the sport teams are racist or something like that. I can't argue much about it, because I am not sport educated even though I am pretty decent/good at most of them. I rather do it myself, then watch others play. Back to the topic, just from simple reasoning sport teams have no reason to be racist. Maybe I just misunderstood his point, but the story was just so boring and plain that I had no intention of remembering of what I wrote or what the author was trying to prove.

Working at McDonalds

McDonalds is one of the fast food places where people will get obesse and will ruin their health. Even though the food hits the spot when I get munchies once in a while hahaha just messing, but the products they offer are extremely unhealthy. Anyways, back to the topic working at McDonalds not such a great place to work, but it will pay the bills. I can somewhat agree to some of points Etzioni provides in her essay. Its hard to work at the fast food place and at same time go to high school. I tried working during my junior yeat at my first job at Vons and it was somewhat over whelming because of the projects and home work I was getting and expected to do in a day or two. Also sometimes shifts are so long and by the end of the day I just feel like go home, eat and knock out. Working and going to school can be a challenge, but over time everyone will get used to it.

The Perfect Crime

A lot of people tried to commit perfect crime, but only few were able to achieve it. With all the agencies that protect this country it is hard to commit a crime with out a punishment. The essay is about how a guy created a perfect crime, but in my opinion the crime not that perfect. The reason it's not perfect, because the guy who created the program was sued and got into a trouble with the music companies and some of the agencies like F.B.I. I can see the writers point of view why he would call this crime perfect, but everyone is entitled for an opinion.

In the Blink of an Eye

Evolution is part of natural process or life. This process lets insects, animals, humans and even bacteria to evolve or acquire genes that will let the offspring to survive in the harsh environment. In this essay writer points out that when people hunt, fish, or capture animals for food they alter the natural evolution process. It's like when you keep fishing and after you catch a lot of fish most sailors or fishers most of the time only keep big fish and throw back the babby fish back. By keeping only small fish, toddlers will start to evolve into smaller fishes, so fishers would throw them back. This will ensure their survival and will keep them safe and not on endagered list.

NCLB

This essay is well writen and the writer does a good job of not reavealing for which side she is on. The essay was sort of boring and through out the reading I skiped a lot of lines just to get to the end. I think that the state tests that are given to children shouldn't decide wether they are elegible to graduate or move on into next class. As long as students are passing the class with c or better one test shouldn't be a factor of wether this child should be allowed to move on or held back. Yeahp. Didn't enjoy this article and it bored me.

Canibalism

In this essay writer talks about how canibalism can be broken down into three types. First type of canibalism involves surviving. In that type of canibalism people only feed on human flesh only for survival. The other type of canibalism is a religious canibalism. In this type of canibalism people eat human flesh for religious purpose. The third type of canibalism involves eating human flesh for feeding purposes or in other words for fun. After finishing reading this essay I felt sick and disturbed. The only type of canibalism I would accept is a survival canibalism, because in survival canibalism people only eat small amount of human flesh in order to survive. The writer illustrated or produced a lot of vivid images through strong words. Also the topic of this essay didn't allow me to get bored and kept me interested, but by the time I finished reading the essay I felt sick and digusted.

In the Blink of an Eye

Through out the human or animal time line only species that can evovle were able to survive or reproduce to get stronger offspring. As time moved on people became more advance and technology evolved tramendously. People started using big boats with huge nets that are being operated by big boats. During their fishin trips they were able to catch huge amounts of fish from adults to toddlers, but during their separation toddlers most of the time are throwen back. Since their so small its better to throw them back, so they would grow bigger and get more meat, but by keeping only big fish and throwing small ones back that activates fishes survival mode which triggers evolution. They would stop growing big, so fishers would be tricked into thinking that they're toddlers and toss them back. That could be a problem in the future, or maybe not.

Born to be Happy, Through a Twist of Human Hard Wire

The topic of this essay is very interesting and kept me wanting to know more. Before when I saw people who showed lack of interest or grief towards the tragedy or even death of their loved ones or close ones, made me think that they didn't really gave a damn about them or were after something else, maybe their fortune or something. But after reading this essay I understand now that there are people who have hyperthemia character and dysthymia. I feel sorry for people who have dysthymia disorder, it wold suck to be depressed all the time. People with hyperthemia disorder seems like they dont really have downside since they happy all the time. Maybe if you mix them their kids would come out neutral? Don't know about genetics much, but wouldnt be bad to try it.
